Free Pattern: Simon Tam
Simon is a hat. A tam, to be exact. Made for people (like me) with lots and lots of hair to shove under there. Or just for people who like big, floppy hats. It’s named after a character from the television show Firefly, because his last name was Tam and I couldn’t think of the word without thinking of him.

Hi Jesh! I love this pattern but am a bit of a novice knitter. I’ve done lacing and knitting in the round before with great success.
I have a few question about the pattern if you could help me out I would be very grateful!
1. When doing the sl1YO, p1 . Do you s1 with the yarn in back, then bing the yarn to the front for a yarn over?
2. For patt round 1. When knitting the stitch behind the YO – does that mean knitting the third stitch, slipping YO pwise, move yarn to back, then knit?
3. For patt rnd 2: p st tog= does that mean purl two stitches together?
Any assistance you can give would be awesome!
This is such a wonderful hat!!!
Thank you!
